BALE BREAKS UNITED
The Tottenham winger Gareth Bale helped the club finally break a very bad record against Manchester United in the league after he scored the second goal against the former Premier league champions to record a 3-2 win for Andre Villas-Boas and his men.
The 23-year-old Welsh midfielder was at his impressive best in the match against Manchester United recently. Tottenham were coming into the match against Manchester United at Old Trafford after having not won at this stadium for more than 23 years. However, they found a lackadaisical Manchester United in the first half and immediately took advantage of it with two goals.
The first goal was scored by the Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen after just a few minutes following the start of the match. It shocked Manchester United, but they never showed powers of recovery. They allowed Tottenham to create major openings very easily and this came to bite them in the back a few minutes later. The Welsh midfielder Gareth Bale ran across the entire length of the pitch to score a wonderful solo goal that demonstrated his importance to the team. Following the match, the Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas praised the performance of the 23-year-old, who signed a new four-year contract with the club in the summer.
"This is a very special night for us but our quest is to qualify for the Champions League. It is very difficult to go for the title. We understand it is a place where the great teams of this country belong. We want to win a trophy this season - and we want Champions League qualification," said the Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas after the match. The Manchester United victory was the third successive win for Andre Villas-Boas, as he continues to create his own mark on the team after taking over in the summer.
