LLANELLI STILL STRUGGLE WITH TOWN
Llanelli's problems against the Town continued in the recent match between the two clubs as well.
Llanelli have never beaten the club since getting promotion to the Welsh Premier league in 2008.
Neil Gibson, though, will consider himself extremely unlikely at the fact that his side did not take a point from the match. Even though Llanelli have not beaten Town since being accepted into the Welsh Premier league in 2008, they had put together a solid defensive display that helped them preserve their integrity a lot. Chris Davies, who is in the regular right back, was unavailable due to injury.
However, his replacement – Adam France – was extremely comfortable in the right back position. Together with players like Martin Beattie and Dave Hayes, Town defended extremely comfortably in the match. They were extremely formidable in the air. As a result, every attack from Llanelli was dealt with superior confidence.
After consistent bombarding of the opposition, Llanelli finally have something to cheer about in the match after they broke the deadlock with a goal from Rhys Griffiths on the counter-attack. Llanelli soon extended their lead in the 77th minute when Jason Bowen's header made the game comfortable for Llanelli.
However, the game was definitely not over for Llanelli, as the two quick goals awoke Town. They dominated the match in the final few minutes and got their reward just a few minutes before the normal time. Town were awarded a freekick in the 89th minute, which was subsequently converted by the team. This resulted in a nervous few minutes for Llanelli just before the close of the match. Llanelli also had Lee Surman sent off in the match. After his sending off, Steve Rogers sent the ball into the back of the net with a brilliant freekick.
