Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey delivers emotional message to the fans after playing final game
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has sent an emotional message to the club’s supporters after confirming that he has played his final game for the club. The Wales international has already agreed to join Juventus on a free transfer at the end of the season and he has now revealed that he won’t play any further part for the north London side after picking up an extended hamstring injury.
In a statement released on his official Instagram account, he penned: “It saddens me to say that the game against Napoli was my last game in an Arsenal shirt. Unfortunately it left me with an injury that rules me out of the remaining games. I am really disappointed not to play until the end and give everything for the club while I am still an Arsenal player. Unfortunately it’s out of my hands but I wanted to say thank you to the fans for your support.”
The season-ending injury for Ramsey has no doubt delivered a blow to the Gunners during the final weeks of the campaign, considering they have lacked the creativity from the number 10 spot. Mesut Ozil has largely been a hit-or-miss performer during the course of the season and the same has been the case with Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who have been poor with the finishing.
Arsenal are currently fifth on the Premier League table and they are a couple of points behind Chelsea, who are holding the final Champions League qualification spot. As such, the Gunners no longer hold the command for the fourth position, but they could pounce on any stutter from the Blues during the final two games of the season.
Elsewhere, they have progressed to the semi-final stage of the Europa League and winning the competition offers them with another chance of qualifying for the Champions League next term. Unai Emery’s side are set to face Valencia during the double-legged semi-final with the opening game scheduled at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night.
