Ryan Giggs heaps praise on Daniel James after strong start
Wales
manager Ryan Giggs has heaped praised on Daniel James following his stunning
start to the current season for club and country. The 21-year-old has made a
sublime start to his Manchester United career with three goals from just four
appearances and he has carried over the form to the national team where he
scored with a superb curling effort against Belarus.
Speaking
after that game, Giggs said that James has vastly improved on the end product
and it is difficult to stop him when he has the sight on goal, he told: “He’s
one of those players, you know what he’s going to do, but you can’t stop it.
There are so many goals (he’s scored) like that. He can go either way. Early on
when I saw DJ, just like any young winger, there can be that improvement in the
final ball and scoring more goals, but he’s doing that. To do what he’s done at
the start of the season is amazing.”
James was not expected to become a regular United starter after making the move from Swansea City this summer but a positive pre-season meant that he was included in the matchday squad for the season opener against Chelsea. During that game, he was only handed with a cameo appearance off the bench but he made it count by scoring the final goal in a 4-0 rout.
Since then, he has not looked back and goals against Crystal Palace and Southampton have genuinely made him a favourite among the fans. Despite this, the Red Devils have not put up a collective performance and they are currently on a three-match winless streak. They are scheduled to host Leicester City at Old Trafford when the international break concludes. The Foxes are currently three points ahead of United and occupying the third spot.
