Manchester City’s poor start to the league campaign continued after a 2-2 draw with Arsenal. Manuel Pellegrini was hoping to get his team back to winning ways after having seen them suffer a rare home defeat at the hands of Stoke City in the previous league match. After having taken the lead early in the first half through their star striker Sergio Aguero, City looked comfortable for much of the match. However, Arsenal improved tremendously in the second half and were able to go in front through goals from Alexis Sanchez and Jack Wilshere.

After Miroslav Klose, now, Philipp Lahm has decided to retire as a German player.
Lahm was the skipper of Germany in the World Cup in Brazil and he ended up leading his team to the title.
Every player obviously wants to exit on a winning note and Lahm is no different, but, he was only 30 years of age and he could probably have played for Germany in one more World Cup. However, just like Klose, he also thought that the time was perfect to put a full stop on what has been a wonderful international career.

The Leeds United boss, David Hockaday, believes that Sam Byram would be better off staying in the second tier and playing regularly for one more season rather than going to the top tier and finding himself warming the benches most of the time.

Byram who has the rare capability of playing in the front line as well as in the back line has been on the radar of several league teams. Hockaday has even got a bid for him from Southampton which he has rejected. He is believed to be going to get a few more offers for the player before the window closes at the end of this month.

Former Arsenal defender Tony Adams has criticised Roy Hodgson for not taking experienced players like John Terry and Ashley Cole to the World Cup 2014. Hodgson appeared to favour youth for this tournament, as he took the likes of Ross Barkley and Luke Shaw on the plane to Brazil. This meant that there was no place for Ashley Cole in the squad, while Hodgson did not also consider persuading John Terry to return from international retirement. The lack of experience proved vital at the World Cup, as England failed to create any impression.

Welsh national team boss Chris Coleman has stated that recently announced Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will have a tough time in order to meet the expectations of the club. United recently parted company with David Moyes after just 10 months in charge. The former Everton manager struggled to cope with the intense pressure at United. Towards the end of the regime, he looked a very old and stressed out man. Coleman says that the pressure of managing a big club like United will definitely take its toll on van Gaal.

Wales national team manager Chris Coleman has said that he is confident of qualifying for the Euro 2016 despite the group stage. Wales have not made it into a major tournament for several years now. They once again failed to reach the World Cup 2014, but the expansion of the number of teams for the upcoming Euro 2016 has given them a lot of hope. A maximum of three teams can qualify from group for this major competition. Wales have been placed alongside the likes of Belgium, Israel, and Cyprus.

Wales have had a distinct lack of star names, but Giggs and Bellamy continued to remain as some of the best players to have represented the country.

Wales have recently been given a tough qualifying group for the Euro 2016. They will be facing teams like France, Belgium, and Bosnia – who have qualified for the World Cup 2014 – in this qualifying group.

Even though there are minnows like Andorra, many reckon that Wales are unlikely to qualify for the European Championships due to the tough nature of the group. The Wales football team is going to play a friendly fixture against Iceland in March. That game will take place at Cardiff.

Although Wales will be playing in front of their home crowd in that game, but, things will not be easy for them and that’s because Iceland is not a weak team by any means.
